Week 02- "Life's a Game Log #2"
My group and I are finding inspiration for our games through past games and experiences that we have had in the past. The type of research this entails is using our inspiration in order to make it into a creative idea physically on paper. For modding our game we are going to take its initial properties and combine them with that of another game in order to have more of an end goal towards it. The game we are using is a game that was popular on social media a few months ago with thousands of people playing it. The problem was that this specific game does not have an end goal to it. It was just a game played like "chopsticks" to pass time. If you lost or won nothing happened it just was played again. The way we decided to modify it was to give it an end goal for people to accomplish and allow as many people as we can play this game. So technically there is an unidentified number of people that can play this game because it is that versatile. The way we wanted our game to work is to make it playable wherever and whenever as long as you had the space to do so and the people. Information from the text "Play Matters," stated, "A playground is a pure play context: a separated space devoid of any other function than being a context for playing. But it’s also true that almost any space can become a playground." This right here shows how any space can become a play area for any type of game or activity. You just have to have the materials and well the actual game there. This shows how the game we combine with another would be a great game that can be played anywhere that there is space to do so.
