A New Beginning- Devlog 13

This week in class we started building our board games by framing up the initial ideas. Usability in regards to the board means to me how the game works in regards to certain rules and ideas of the game. If the game is set out to be fair then the usability is good because then there are no advantages or disadvantages and everything in the game works! First off, the exercise that Jason Schklar came up with to assess usability taught me how we could use his same approach to see our game from different standpoints. Ideas he mentioned I think we have already sort of did that this week in our own way and it did definitely help us try to more further develop our game. So I think we can further use these ideas and take them into account when we are developing our game this next time. The sorts of choices that we are going to need to build our game include, tokens, cards, the main board, the building pieces for the board, 4 characters, and I believe for now that is all. Within all these elements though it dives deeper into more of what exactly it is. For example, the cards are action cards but they will have different meanings and they will either be positive negative, or neutral to your certain player. So depending on who you are these cards will have different meanings. I think that is definitely going to make it fun because what is another man's trash is another man's treasure if you get what I'm saying. Why am I always saying dumb stuff in these dev logs, I just thought about it, lol. Like honestly as I'm talking In my head I am typing this out, so it all comes out naturally. Which I guess in turn makes these dev logs better and honestly should give me a better grade, because who does this? I bet you've never seen someone do this. (Thinking in the head) "Maybe that's because everyone follows the rules correctly to ensure they get a good grade, but ehhhh.. when has that ever been fun. Tell me this, do we follow rules when we build games? No, I didn't think so. Anyways back on topic, this game is going to be fun you watch and see. Also, hopefully this doesn't mess up my score for my dev log whoops. Well, have a good day/night depending on when you're reading this!
