Week 08- "Life's a Game Log #8"
Sports video games are games that are loved by many people all around the world. These games are loved because it puts people in the position of playing in their favorite sports in a "professional" way that might not have been possible in real life. There are many sports turned games like basketball, soccer, football, hockey, etc. Fifa is a game that I played a lot before because I loved soccer. I grew up playing soccer in high school so playing the game brought me back to those days of being on that field and having the excitement of the game. My game is a sport that everywhere around the world people know and it is a video game that is widely known as well. Translating this sport in a video game turned out pretty good, the only differences from this is that in the game you get to play as all the players on the field and you have an arial view instead of a first person view. The thing is with video games you cant exactly get things perfect as they are in real life because it wont make the video game balanced enough to be fun with one versus one game modes. In Sharps reading it says, " Simulating skateboarding differs greatly from the typical spectator-centric sport." This shows that trying to make a sport equal into a game doesn't always workout because there are always other things that make it different than real life. For example in skating as he states you have to have dedication and time and practice to learn tricks, but in the game you can already do them once you learn the button combinations which only take a few minutes or even just a few hours compared to days and weeks and months in real life. In class we also discussed how the game rocket league is a combination of cars and soccer but with certain additions to make it more fun and entertaining for the player. Adding things that cars wouldn't have like jumps and boosts combined with soccer that the ball is huge and you pass it from car to car instead of player it makes it way more fast paced and entertaining. Making games fast paced allows for people to stay more in tune with the game and have their attention attached at all times during the game. Like soccer in which Im explaining that the game Fifa is based after it is more closer to real life except for certain things that makes it different than normal. The things that make it different is that you play as the whole team so you pass from one player to in another in which you control them all, except for the goalie which at times is controlled by an A.I. or you can switch to him and control them. My game soccer is pretty simple and the game Fifa that I am comparing it to is VERY similar to my sport. The rules are for the most part the same and everything is balanced like it would in the real life sport soccer, except for the few certain things that I mentioned. But the thing is the game does that so you can play by yourself without having to need a whole team to play with so you can enjoy it. You playing as all the players also allows for you to make it a more fast paced game or slow paced depending on how you want to control it. You playing as gthe team allows you to control the flow of the game and make all the decisions so the game is all up to you!
